The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that they were searching for a shooting victim and his alleged shooter.
According to investigators, John Davis III and Timmy Stevens argued inside a car, parked along Riverview Road, at about 9 p.m. Tuesday when Davis was shot in the head three times.
Officers said that when they arrived, Davis had left with Stevens in a white 2012 Kia Forte EX with Kentucky license No. 467-MVF, 10TV’s Tanisha Mallett reported.
A 2-year-old in the car with the men was shot in the leg, according to the Morgan County Prosecutor’s Office.
The bullet went through the child’s leg, and the child was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Mallett reported.
A 16-year-old girl and an unidentified woman also in the car were uninjured.
According to witnesses, Stevens’ car was spotted speeding from the neighborhood.
“All of a sudden, this car went by really fast and a friend of ours was on a motorcycle, and they about ran him over,” neighbor Stephanie Thompson said.
Investigators said that the woman in the car was able to flag down another car and called for help.
“We saw the two deputies come up, stop and they all got out of the car, and we heard her yelling for her baby,” Thompson said.
Thompson said that her community was on edge.
“How could this happen? How could someone just shoot somebody. I don’t understand that,” Thompson said.
The cause of the argument that led to the allegedly shooting was not immediately known.
Investigators said that Stevens should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information in the shooting is asked to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office at 740-962-4044.
