A teenager was charged on Wednesday in an alleged murder plot that targeted her father.
Investigators responded to a report of a stabbing at a home, located along Hamilton Court, at about 5:15 a.m. and found Alan Dillman stabbed in the back, 10TV's Jessa Goddard reported.
While investigating the stabbing, police said they uncovered an alleged murder plot hatched by Grace Dillman, the victim's 16-year-old daughter, and Robert Best, her 20-year-old boyfriend.
Investigators said that Alan Dillman did not approve of his daughter's relationship because of Best's age. Police said that the relationship started online when Grace Dillman was 13.
Gahanna Deputy Chief of Police Ken Bell said that Best was cooperating with the investigation and expressed remorse for the stabbing.
“Dad asked him why he was doing this, and he told (the) dad why, and it was discovered that it was a lie, and the 20-year-old actually started performing some quick medical procedures to stop the bleeding,” Bell said.
Police said that they did not know what the lie was, Goddard reported.
Best was charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault. Grace Dillman was charged with attempted murder.
