A man was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison and a lifetime driver's license suspension on Tuesday in connection with a crash that left another man dead.

According to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office, Derek Vanhorn, of Beverly, was texting his girlfriend on Aug. 10 while driving along U.S. Route 42, near Section Line Road, when he drove left of center and struck a vehicle carrying Paul Raimonde.

Raimonde, 55, died immediately, 10TV News reported.

Vanhorn, 26, pleaded no contest in April to a third-degree felony count of aggravated vehicular homicide.
