An organization hopes to send a message to the city's young people about violence, 10TV News reported on Tuesday.
Cease Fire Columbus, an organization made up of community leaders, activists and clergy, plans to hold six workshops on the topics of respect and identity.
The first workshop was scheduled for Tuesday.
The other workshops are:
-"Opportunities for some but maybe not me" on June 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City of Columbus community relations commission,located at 1111 East Broad St., Suite #302.
-Real talk on the breakdown of relations between youth at high risk for violence and adults on June 13 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Family Missionary Baptist Church, located on Oakwood Avenue.
-"Opportunities for some but maybe not me" on June 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Division of Police, located on Marconi Boulevard.
-"Respect and Identity in the Block: how is violence part of the picture" on June 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Columbus Public Health, located at 240 Parsons Ave.
-"Real talk on the breakdown of relations between youth a high risk for violence and adults on June 20 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Columbus Public Health, located at 240 Parsons Ave.
