Police said that a woman was stabbed and killed during an argument with her ex-husband on Sunday morning.
According to investigators, a 13-year-old boy inside the home called police at about 9 a.m. and told them that his father killed his mother.
When they arrived at the home, located along the 3200 block of Townhouse Drive, police found Candice Roberts, 36, stabbed multiple times and covered with a blanket, 10TV’s Jason Frazer reported
Officers took Roberts’ ex-husband, Jeremy Roberts, who was standing nearby, into custody.
Investigators said that Candace Roberts was at the home of Jeremy Roberts to pick up their two children, when an argument and stabbing occurred.
Neighbors looked on as investigators processed the scene.
“I feel sad for the whole family and the kids,” neighbor Donna White said. “I hope they get justice for what happened to her.”
Kayla Roberts, the couple’s teenage daughter, was not at the home at the time of the stabbing. She recalled the moment she learned of her mother’s death.
“The detective on the case asked me if I was Kayla, I said ‘Yes,’ and he grabbed my arm and told me that my mom had been stabbed,” Kayla Roberts said. “I immediately fell to the ground in shock. I’m still in shock.”
Police said that Jeremy Roberts, 38, was charged with murder in connection with his ex-wife’s death.
The 13-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, who were at the home at the time of the incident, were placed in the care their grandmother.
Kayla Roberts said that her parents did not argue often and that they typically got along just fine. She said that she believed her father “snapped” for no reason.
