Jeff Hogan will be the new spokesman for Commit To Be Fit, WBNS-10TV announced Tuesday.
Hogan will assume the role and responsibilities held for the past 11 years by Andrea Cambern, who left the station on May 23.
10TV started Commit To Be Fit after a report was published by Men's Fitness Magazine naming Columbus the nation's fifth-fattest city. The effort, led by Cambern, was aimed at getting central Ohioans to eat and live healthier. As a result of its success, Columbus now falls outside of the top 10 national fattest city ranking.
Hogan's arrival on the Commit To Be Fit scene will bring a broader perspective to the popular station initiative and widen its appeal. Hogan's wife Jeanne, who is also a local television personality, and their daughters, Skyler and Kate, will help spread the Commit to Be Fit message to central Ohio children and families.
Hogan and his family are personally committed to staying healthy and fit. He has competed in more than 25 triathlons, including the 2011 Giant Eagle Multisport Festival and the 2010 Ironman Louisville. He has also completed several marathons, including the Boston Marathon, Disney Marathon and the past three Columbus marathons.
He also takes part in skiing, snowboarding and golf.
Jeanne Hogan finds a way to balance a healthy lifestyle that includes healthy nutritional decisions for the family, as well as keeping herself and the girls active. During the week, she is either running or taking classes at the gym. Skyler and Kate are both active in sports. They are involved in everything from snow skiing to golfing and statewide gymnastics competitions.
"Fitness with family and friends has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember," Jeff Hogan said. "I can think of no community initiative that speaks to this as much as Commit To Be Fit. Jeanne, the girls and I look forward to continuing Andrea's legacy and working hard to develop more and more ways of engaging central Ohioans in the effort to lead healthier and happier lives."
"We are so pleased that Jeff will be leading 10TV's Commit To Be Fit efforts," said 10TV President and General Manager Tom Griesdorn. "Andrea started something very big 11 years ago and we believe we found the perfect person to continue her hard work. Given Jeff's personal dedication to staying healthy and fit, I am certain it will help us continue to make a difference in the health and well-being of our viewers and community members."
