AEP Ohio is the first company to use the new 2012 Coda sedan, 10TV News reported Thursday.
The four-door vehicle made by California company, Coda, can travel up to 125 miles on one charge.
AEP tested out another Coda vehicle for months before adding the 2012 to its fleet. Company officials said that they wanted to know how electric vehicles would impact their electric grid.
Coda is the same company that scrapped plans to build a battery plant in Columbus, 10TV News reported.
The company applied for a federal loan to help build the facility in central Ohio, but it did not get approved.
