The U.S. Department of Agriculture released its final report Wednesday about the January death of a leopard.
According to the USDA, the leopard, which was taken to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium after being released in Zanesville by a man who released dozens of other animals and then killed himself, died because of a zoo error.
Zoo officials said that the cat was being moved to a different enclosure when it darted back as a door was being lowered and was hit on the neck.
The leopard suffered a spinal-cord injury and was euthanized.
