Columbus Recreation and Parks officials on Monday were trying to determine why water levels at the pond at Goodale Park were dropping. Contractors just finished refilling that pond on Friday after they used a substance to patch suspected leaks.

On Monday, crews discovered the water levels had dropped several inches.

Terri Leist of the Recreation and Parks Department said that the problem could be a new leak, wind pushing water out of the pond or an issue with the new fountain.

The fountain, which features two elephants on the top of a tower, was turned on for the first time this past weekend.
