A source who works for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that Sheriff Walter Davis spent part of the weekend removing things from his office.
According to the source, Davis made four or five trips, carting boxes to his personal vehicle using a moving dolly Sunday evening at about 9:30 p.m., 10 Investigates’ Paul Aker reported.
A sheriff’s office spokesperson said Sunday evening the sheriff could not be reached for comment.
On Friday, Sheriff Davis’ attorney said that Davis was still contemplating how to handle the situation.
This came days after the Delaware County Republican Central Committee voted to rescind its endorsement of Davis.
The vote came after a 10 Investigates report aired on Tuesday that revealed Davis used county money for an out-of-state trip. 10 Investigates revealed a female sheriff’s deputy who works for Davis was at the same hotel at the same time.
The 10 Investigates report also uncovered that Davis and the same deputy had met during evenings at a Delaware County condominium that neither owns.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is looking into the allegations.
