A Columbus man and woman are charged with illegal conveyance after allegedly trying to smuggle contraband, including drugs, into the Chillicothe Correctional Institution, 10TV News reported Monday.

A grand jury on Friday indicted Charles Harris Jr. and Christina Briggs on felony charges.

According to the Chillicothe Gazette, the charges stemed from an investigation that began Jan. 9 after the prison obtained a tip that an inmate was receiving drugs by having them tossed over the fence.

Ross County Sheriff's Office deputies allegedly found marijuana in two plastic bags on Briggs, one in her shoe and the other in her bra.

Deputies allegedly found a football behind Harris' seat that was stuffed with rolling papers, two bags of tobacco, three cigars, 32.75 grams of marijuana and 0.08 grams of heroin, the Gazette reported.
