A mother of four was taken into custody this week for a crime she allegedly committed more than a decade ago in Texas, 10TV’s Tanisha Mallett reported on Wednesday.

Heather Horn, otherwise known as Heather Mahoney, was stopped by Pickerington police on Monday for a routine traffic spot.

Pickerington police Cmdr. Matt Delp said that police stopped Horn, 33, along Interstate 70, and a search of her temporary tags revealed something else.

“He ran the temporary tags, and it came back there was a warrant for a ‘Mahoney’ woman out of Texas,” Delp said.

Delp said that the warrant was issued in 1998.

“The woman finally owns up that, yeah, she is this Mahoney person, and tells the officer that when she was a juvenile, she was in a juvenile facility,” Delp said.

Investigators in Texas said that one night, Horn, who at the time went by Mahoney, and three other girls stole the keys to a Toyota Corolla owned by a staff member of the Holy Highway home for girls.

Texas authorities said that they had been searching ever since.

The mother of four now has to return to Texas to answer for the warrant, Mallett reported.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office said that Horn was released on her own recognizance per the Hopkins County, Texas sheriff’s office.
