County and health officials were working on clear up a cockroach problem at the old Franklin County Courthouse, 10TV’s Josh Poland reported on Wednesday.
According to officials, the problem was identified about six weeks ago, and courthouse personnel took immediate action.
The former courthouse is located at 373 S. High St.
Jim Goodenow, Franklin County Public Facilities Director, said that he was most worried about the cafeteria on the 16th floor. The cafeteria serves about 1,100 customers each day.
“We treated not only this floor but all the adjacent floors above and below the 16th floor just to make sure,” Goodenow. “You didn’t want to certainly allow the insect the opportunity to
go anyplace else.”
Columbus Public Health officials said that they were pleased with the progress, but inspectors still spotted roaches during an inspection last week.
Health officials said that they would continue to monitor the building.
