Almost a year after a boy died in a playground incident, his family is honoring him by giving to others, 10TV’s AJ Smith reported on Monday.
Noah Maloney died on March 12, 2011, while playing on an outdoor slide. Maloney was 6 years old. His family said that they remember a funny and loving boy.
“The way that he showed his love and out of nowhere, he would just run up and give me a hug and knock me of my feet,” Jennifer Maloney, Noah’s mother, said.
Reid McMonigle said that he wanted to remember Noah on what would have been his seventh birthday.
“We just collected a lot of stuffed animals and toys,” McMonigle said. “I didn’t know we would get all of them.”
Jennifer Maloney said that they were able to collect hundreds of toys, games and puzzles. On Monday, they donated the toys to Dublin Methodist Hospital.
The toys will go to children at the hospital -- both patients and visitors -- in honor of Noah.
“He was a special child,” Jennifer Maloney said. “He was very giving and caring, and he loved everybody. I just want to spread that, let everybody else know who he was, keep his name alive by sharing with others.”
Noah’s father, John Maloney, said that the Dublin community’s support has meant a lot to his family.
“Obviously, it hasn’t been easy, but they’ve helped us so much, and I can’t thank everyone enough,” John Maloney said.
