The Ohio State Highway Patrol released a 911 call Friday that led to the arrest of an off-duty trooper who was arrested for speeding and drunken-driving.
According to investigators, Tiffany Wilson was driving along Interstate 71 north in Morrow County at about 12:30 a.m. when she was stopped for driving 102 mph in a 65 mph zone.
A man called 911 and stayed on the phone with the dispatcher for nearly 10 minutes, following who he thought was a man driving drunk.
"Now he's doing about 80 miles per hour," the driver, who requested anonymity, said.
Wilson, 39, registered a 0.16 blood-alcohol level, which is twice the legal limit, 10TV's Glenn McEntyre reported.
"He almost killed me. I had three kids in the car. I was not a happy guy," the driver said. "Maybe he was just in a hurry, but when I was following behind him I was watching him almost go into the median two or three times and I was like no, this dude's like high or drunk."
Wilson had been with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for 12 years.
Wilson's badge, weapon and ID card were taken away from her, and she was placed on leave on Friday.
Wilson will be placed on desk duty pending the outcome of an investigation, McEntyre reported.
Investigators said that Wilson was not jailed during the traffic stop but was cited and allowed to go home.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said that it was not uncommon to charge and release a first-time drunken-driving offender when there are no extenuating or aggravating circumstances.
Wilson was not immediately available for comment.
