The U.S. Postal Service has proposed increasing the price of stamps to 50 cents, 10TV News reported on Friday.

USPS is dealing with increasing debt and estimates losses of up to $18 billion by 2015.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe sent a letter to Congress proposing changes for the agency, 10TV News reported.

Proposals include eliminating more than 150,000 jobs, increasing the price of first-class stamps and delaying delivery times for long distance mail.

The postal service also wants to withdraw from the Federal Health Benefits program.
