Several residents of a north side apartment complex found their cars broken into on Thursday, and an apology note on their windshields.

Victims said that they walked outside of their apartments at the Ravine at Olentangy Village, located at 2825 Neil Ave., to find at least five cars were targeted, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.

"More than anything, I'm confused," resident Michael Williams said. "I'm confused who was targeted, why they were targeted."

In all, nine tires were slashed, leaving costly repairs for those who were targeted, Ramos reported.

The mother of the boy who allegedly slashed the tires reached out to the victims. She wrote a note apologizing for her son's actions, and offered to pay for the damages.

"We'll see what they can actually do," victim Matt Jackel said.

The mother who wrote the note also contacted police. Investigators did not immediately determine whether her son will be charged.

Police did not immediately release the names of the mother or her son.
