Officials in Worthington missed out on a federal grant that would have helped them buy old home and renovate it, 10TV News reported on Wednesday.

Rachel Barezinsky was shot at the home back in 2006.

Barezinsky, 17, went to the home on a dare, when the homeowner, Allen Davis, shot her.

Davis currently is serving a 16 year prison sentence.

The house has sat empty since Davis’ mother passed away two years ago, 10TV News reported.

Worthington officials told 10TV they are evaluating their options to see if they can find another option to purchase the home.
