Westland High School will remain closed for the remainder of the week while investigators trace the source of an odor that hospitalized several people.
Boiler, air sampling and core experts entered the school, located at 146 Galloway Rd., to conduct tests, 10TV's Tanisha Mallett reported.
Core experts were called in to investigate conditions beneath the floor while boiler exports worked on top of the building.
The testing came days after 13 people were hospitalized after fumes in the southwest corner of the school overcame them on Monday. Those who were hospitalized complained of nausea and light-headedness.
South-Western City School District officials dismissed classes early on Monday and Tuesday because of the odor, Mallett reported.
Prairie Township Fire Chief Stephen Feustel said that 21 students were looked over by emergency medical service crews after school was dismissed on Tuesday.
An air quality test conducted on Tuesday was negative, Feustel said.
Investigators said that testing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., the same time the original odor claims were reported. Tests were scheduled through noon.
