The Buchtel Chief Of Police was arrested on Wednesday on drug charges.
Chief Kelsey Lanning was arrested after Athens County Sheriff’s deputies from the Narcotics Enforcement Team conducted a controlled buy of prescription pills at Lanning’s Nelsonville home.
Sheriff Patrick Kelley said that NET executed a search warrant at Lanning’s home after the controlled purchase.
Lanning was accused of purchasing prescribed pills for a person working with the Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Lanning currently is in jail at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail and will appear in court on Thursday.
Lanning’s girlfriend, Jessica Willison, 29, was also arrested for possession.
