One person was killed when an ATV and a school bus crashed late Monday afternoon.
Thomas Wilson, the driver of the ATV, was pronounced dead at the scene, 10TV News reported.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials said that the bus was stopped to unload children when Wilson, 48, hit the rear end of the bus.
According to sheriff's officials, the crash happened at about 4:50 p.m. near 10327 LaRue-Mt. Victory Rd., just west of LaRue.
Kristen Price, a fourth-grader, said that she and her little sister had just gotten off the bus in front of their home when they saw Wilson hit the bus.
“The next thing I know, there’s a four-wheeler flying across the air,” Price said. “Me and Amber dunked down, and everything’s flying across us. Me and Amber came screaming and saying, ‘Mom, someone got hit.’”
Troopers said that there were still two students and the driver on the bus at the time of the crash and no one else was injured.
Amanda Price, Kristen and Amber’s mother, said that she was happy her children were not injured.
“If he would have went left instead of right, he would have hit my kids, and I’m just grateful they’re OK,” Price said. “I feel bad for this family. I pray for his family. I’m just glad my kids didn’t get hit.”
