Four Ohio soldiers were welcomed home from Iraq Saturday night.
"It's almost beyond words, but it's a great feeling to be back," Maj. Michael Wiseman said.
The soldiers, from Ohio National Guard's 1937th Contingency Contracting Team, worked to help in the withdrawl of American troops in Iraq, 10TV's Chuck Strickler reported.
They also helped manage billions of dollars in goods and services from Iraqi businesses to help build up the economy there.
The tight-knit group of soldiers expressed their own thanks for the never-ending support of family and friends back home.
"Thank you all for bearing that burden of the unknown, and doing things alone, and getting used to doing things that we should be doing, or were doing before, so thank you so much," Wiseman said. "We couldn't do the things we did, and be successful, without that kind of love and support from the families back home."
The soldiers were awarded joint-service commendation medals for outstanding accomplishment in their mission, Strickler reported.
