A judge refused to let a Columbus woman out of jail early, even though she was described as a model prisoner, 10TV News reported on Friday.
Michelle Barrett has served 16 years for poisoning her husband, Kirk Barrett, in 1994.
She told police her husband used cyanide to commit suicide, but she later pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and received a sentence up to 25 years.
On Thursday, Barrett admitted to bringing the poison into their home, but she said it was supposed to be for killing herself.
The judge rejected her claim and refused to grant early release for the 43-year-old, noting she wore a disguise and used a fake name to buy some of the poison that killed her husband.
