One woman encouraged people Thursday to boycott the annual Race for the Cure in Columbus.
The move came after the national Komen Foundation stopped its funding of Planned Parenthood, 10TV's Justin Moss reported.
Liz Lessner, of the Columbus Food League and owner of several restaurants, circulated a petition to get businesses and property owners along the route to protest the race.
That included the Short North area where thousands of runners and walkers pass through every year for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Lessner also took to social media to spread her plan to boycott the race this year and called on others to join her, Moss reported.
But, Komen's Columbus chapter said the decision on a national level would not have any impact in Columbus.
Planned Parenthood in central Ohio never applied for money from the foundation, Moss reported.
The Komen C.E.O. in Columbus said the group is working harder than ever to fund breast cancer research and prevention and hoped to have continued support.
The Columbus Race for the Cure is scheduled for May 19th.
