Residents said on Tuesday that their neighborhood was the target of thieves.

Dustin Capobianco said that his brand new Hummer was stolen from his driveway on Robmeyer Drive.

In addition to the vehicle that he had owned for only seven days, thieves broke into the garage and stole several items, including personal documents, 10TV’s Tanisha Mallett reported.

Capobianco said that his door to his home was unlocked, but the thieves did not go inside.

“I remember hearing a big truck, so I got up real fast, because I thought it was the bulk trash that I hadn’t put out yet,” Capobianoco said. “So I got up, and got myself together as quick as I could and came outside, and lo and behold, no vehicle.”

Capobianco said that police thought  that someone brought a flatbed in and towed the vehicle away.

“In the past, we have been pretty relaxed about it,” Capobianco’s girlfriend, Rachel Brown, said. “We are used to living in pretty nice areas of town, but now everything is going to be locked.”

About five miles away from Capobianco’s home, thieves took two ATVs from the rear of a Fairwood Avenue home.

The homeowner, who requested anonymity, said that he thinks he was targeted.

“We just bought them two years ago, but we don’t get a lot of opportunity to ride them,” the homeowner said.

Neighbors said that they remember seeing a red van with tinted windows in the area. One of the windows was broken, Mallett reported.

The homeowner said that he thought the thieves were bold.

“You figure, you have a fence around your yard, you have neighbors all around you, you would think no one would be brave enough to come in your yard,” the homeowner said.

Police said that they did not think the two thefts were connected but reminded homeowners to protect themselves and their belongings.

Capobianco said that he wanted to move.

“I will leave the premises as soon as possible, whether we have to break the lease or whatever, it is a little much at this point,” Capobianco said.
