City crews cut the power to a University District park after a dog was electrocuted on Friday night.
A woman told investigators she was walking her dog near a sidewalk Friday at Iuka Park when he was electrocuted, 10TV News reported.
Laura Mohr, a spokesperson for the Department of Public Utilities, said workers found the ground contained a dangerous electrical current.
"As awful the situation was, we're thankful no one else was hurt," Mohr said.
The city believed the current is related to a recent improvement project in the area to light a bridge.
The power to the bridge and the surrounding area was shut off until workers can determine how to fix the problem, 10TV News reported.
