Ohio University campus police on Friday said that a threat was over after an alleged bank robber was spotted on campus Thursday night. Police Chief Andrew Powers said that he believed Billy Caudill was on campus in the area of Union and Shaffer streets at about 6 p.m.
"As of 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, we believe any threat to the campus and community has passed," Powers said. According to the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, Caudill, 43, robbed the People's Bank, located at 55 N. High St. in Carroll, on Wednesday morning.
The robbery prompted the lockdown of Bloom-Carroll Local Schools, 10TV News reported. Sheriff's officials said that Caudill likely was armed and could be dangerous and advised people to
stay away from the area.
Powers said that campus police worked with the Athens Police Department and searched the campus and surrounding areas for several hours.
Caudill was not located, 10TV News reported.
Caudill is 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 195 pounds and is believed to be clean shaven with a shaved head, police said.
