An Ohio State senator introduced a bill to create an official state football on Wednesday.
Republican State Sen. Cliff Hite from northwest Ohio introduced the bill that would designate Wilson Sporting Goods Co. footballs as the state football.
Wilson is based in Ada, in Hardin County.
The company’s Web site said that it is home to the nation’s only dedicated football factory.
Wilson is also responsible for producing the footballs for Super Bowl XLVI.
This would not be the only unusual state symbol; Ohio also has a state frog, state beverage and state insect, 10TV News reported.
