The state approved on Wednesday the construction of the Black Fork Wind Farm, clearing the way for 91 wind turbines to be built along the Crawford-Richland County line.
The project is expected to create between 70 and 95 construction jobs and 10 permanent positions, 10TV News reported.
State officials said that the wind farm would generate 200 megawatts of electricity.
Opponents have voiced concerns about noise and aesthetic issues.
Construction will start in March, and officials said that the wind farm should be producing electricity by December.
