A Delaware County woman was formally charged on Thursday with attempted murder after police said that she tried to kill her husband when she shot him in the chest.

A grand jury indicted Chongkonnee Thomas on one count of attempted murder with a firearm and two counts of felonious assault, 10TV News reported.

Police said that Thomas, 40, shot her husband, Kevin Thomas Jr., 31, at their home on Hawking Drive.

Delaware County Sheriff Walter Davis said that a .380 caliber handgun was recovered from the home.

"Our office has no record of ever being dispatched to this residence prior to the incident that occurred today," Davis said. "At this point, it appears that this shooting was the result of a domestic altercation."

Chongkonnee Thomas is currently at the Delaware County Jail until an arraignment hearing is scheduled, 10TV News reported.
