The Fairfield County Department of Health was asked Thursday by the Ohio Department of Health to find “suitable quarters.”
According to a letter sent to the Fairfield department by ODH, an anonymous complaint was sent to U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio about building conditions at the Fairfield County Health Department's Granville Pike location in Lancaster.
According to Fairfield County officials, the health department building was built in the 1800s.
ODH officials said that they were notified that the Fairfield health department and county officials have taken steps to address the building issues, 10TV News reported.
Fairfield County Facilities Manager Tony Vogel said that a lot goes into finding a new building.
“Some of the things that they do require hospital (like) doctor office patient rooms, and then other things just have office space,” Vogel said. “It’s not just moving them into an office.”
County officials said that they would save money on maintenance costs when they find a new facility, 10TV reported.
