Groveport Madison officials alerted parents Wednesday after reports of bed bugs.
The principal of Dunloe Elementary School said that bed bugs have been spotted and parents have been notified, 10TV’s Tanisha Mallett reported.
According to the school, two classrooms are scheduled for treatment.
Jeffrey Sharp, who lives across the street from Dunloe and has a grandson who attends the school, said that he was stunned to learn what staff found.
"I'm very concerned,” Sharp said. “I mean, bed bugs scare me. I don't even like houseflies. And when you get to bed bugs, I hear they're really nasty and you have to sometimes burn your mattresses and stuff.”
Last month, bed bugs were found in Groveport Elementary School.
That school is on a treatment schedule with an area pest control specialist, Mallett reported.
According to the Franklin County Health Department, the bed bugs are not a public health risk.
Health Department officials said that the school was doing doing all it could and were being proactive.
Sharp said that is all he can ask for.
"I have faith in the school system,” Sharp said. “I mean, they religiously do call us when something goes wrong."
