Luke Fickell will be retained on incoming coach Urban Meyer's staff, 10TV Sports' Dom Tiberi reported Monday.
Sources close to the football program told Tiberi that it was not immediately known what Fickell's position would be on Meyer's staff.
Fickell was named interim coach in the spring when coach Jim Tressel was suspended for Ohio State's first five games of the season. When Tressel stepped down in May, the university announced Fickell would coach the entire 2011 season.
Sources also told 10TV Sports that the university will hold a 5:15 p.m. news conference to formally announce Meyer's hiring. The announcement will be seen live on 10TV News and 10TV.com.
