Ohio State Cancels Football Games Against Tennessee, Adds North Carolina

UPDATED: Tuesday November 22, 2011 4:27 PM

Ohio State announced on Tuesday several changes to future football schedules, including canceling a home and home series against the University of Tennessee in 2018 and 2019.

According to a news release issued by the university, Ohio State made the request to Tennessee to cancel the games because of the Big Ten's decision to pay a nine-game conference season beginning with the 2017 season.

With the announcement, Ohio State now has Cincinnati as its only non-conference opponent in 2018 and will add two others to the schedule.

Ohio State also announced it has agreed to a home-and-home series against North Carolina.  The teams will meet in Columbus on Sept. 5, 2015 and in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sept. 23, 2017.

The Buckeyes will also play Florida A&M, a Football Championship Subdivision school from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, on Sept. 7, 2013, at Ohio Stadium.  The game will be the first between the two schools in football.  Florida A&M will be guaranteed $850,000 to play Ohio State.
