WHITEHALL, Ohio - Police said that the driver of a pickup that crashed into a home and ran from the scene was taken into custody on Wednesday morning.
The crash occurred at about 2:30 a.m. along Doney Street, 10TV's Tino Ramos reported.
According to police, Patrick Legg veered off the road and crashed into the home of David Roush.
The front of the pickup crashed into the front of the home, narrowly missing the window of a 13-year-old who was sleeping inside.
Police and fire crews were called to the scene and discovered that the driver escaped through the passenger side.
Officers tracked the pickup's license plate number and went to the home where they found Legg.
Legg was taken into custody after he confessed to driving the pickup into Roush's home, Ramos reported.
Despite the damage to his home, Roush is counting his blessings.
"Our pastor this week, he was excited and said make sure we come to church Sunday and tell us what our blessings are," Roush said. "Well, I have a blessing, nobody was hurt."
Firefighters were working to determine whether the house was structurally sound.
