Ohio University's Club Soccer Team Suspended Over Hazing Allegations

Ohio University's men's club soccer team was suspended amid allegations of hazing, 10TV News reported Wednesday.

A report that was filed earlier this month stated that a member of the team was admitted to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital on Sept. 9 after suffering a head injury.

The apparent cause of the injury stemmed from the student being forced by his teammates to drink too much alcohol, 10TV's Josh Poland reported.

The school's Director of Intramural and Club Sports, Nick Brigati, said that the alleged incident could be a violation of the university's hazing policy.

According to Ohio University's code of conduct, "coercing another to engage in an act of membership in a student organization that causes or creates a risk of mental or bodily harm to any person," is a Code A offense.

Brigati said that drinking alcohol as a team would be a violation of the student code of conduct.

The university expects to have the investigation finished sometime next week, Poland reported.
