A personal trainer and fitness model was trying to figure out how Facebook merged her page with that of a singer who shares the same name.
Rebecca Black's Facebook fan page went from about 800 fans to more than 73,000 in just a few hours, 10TV News reported.
After seeing the mistake, Black, from Westerville, told everyone that Facebook had the wrong girl.
"I'm running a personal training, health-oriented, self-esteem business," Black said.
The other Rebecca Black is a 14-year-old singer who is famous on YouTube.
Somehow, Facebook figured they were one in the same and merged both Rebecca Black fan page accounts into one, 10TV News reported.
Fans who liked the merged page who thought she was the teenage singer suddenly turned on Westerville's Black. Some people "unliked" her page, but others posted threatening and graphic comments.
"I'm fortunate it happened to me because it didn't happen to someone who has issues that this could negatively effect," Black said.
She said that she is making the best of the merger, using it to promote her fitness business, which does not include vocal performance.
"I cannot sing," Black said. "My husband can attest to that."
