Ohio State Issues Alert After Man With Knife Seen On Campus

Ohio State campus police issued a campus wide alert on Wednesday after a man was seen holding a knife to a woman.

The Buckeye Alert that was issued shortly after 4 p.m. said that a man was seen near Cannon Drive and King Avenue.

Shortly before 7 p.m. police took one man into custody who matched the description of the man in connection with the incident.

The man was detained near Olentangy River Road and King Avenue, 10TV reported.

No charges were immediately made, according to authorities.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Authorities responded to two separate reports of a man with a knife. In both incidents, the man attempted to abduct a single female.

Police said the first incident occurred a little after 3 p.m. in the area of Medical Center Drive and Cannon Drive. The second incident took place shortly after in the area of Cannon Drive and King Avenue.

The man was described as a white male, in his 30s-40s, balding, and wearing a yellow button up shirt with light colored shorts or pants.

The alert went out to thousands of people who signed up to receive campus alerts from the university.

According to a 10TV News report in the spring, more than 30,000 people signed up to receive the alerts.
