A person of interest has been identified after several children told their parents that they were groped at two different home-operated daycares in Athens County, authorities said on Friday.
The investigation began about two weeks ago, when a 4-year-old girl told her parents that she had been touched inappropriately, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported.
Since then, three more cases have been reported.
The two daycares in question are located across the street from each other on State Route 13, near the village of Millfield. The Athens County Sheriff's Office said the person of interest in the case was not an employee, but rather a man who has visited the daycares, Landers reported.
His name is not being released because he has not been charged.
In addition to the four daycare-related cases, authorities are also investigating other allegations involving the man. Athens County Sheriff Patrick Kelly said his office was looking into claims that two 13-year-old girls were touched inappropriately by him late last year, Landers reported.
Investigators have taken a DNA sample from the man and it would be presented as evidence if charges are sought.
