An expectant mother threw a party and served guests a cake to announce the sex of her unborn baby, 10TV's Andrea Cambern reported Monday.

When parents-to-be learn the sex of their child, they order a cake. The baker frosts the inner layers with pink or blue icing, depending on the baby's sex.

The surprise comes when guests cut into the dessert

Sue Baisden, of Capital City Cakes, said she received her first request to create such a cake two years ago.  The expectant mother didn't want to know the sex of her child.

"She came straight from the ultrasound, handed me the envelope, and I was the first one to get to see what (the sex) was. That was really exciting. I kind of felt like the grandma," Baisden said.

The parents-to-be shared their cake and the big news with more than a dozen family and friends.
