Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Abusing Stepdaughter, 4

A woman accused of abusing her 4-year-old stepdaughter pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to attempted murder charges.

Ashley Young, 25, was ordered held on a $1 million bond. She posted bond on Wednesday afternoon and was released.

Young was arrested on Monday after her stepdaughter was found unresponsive with marks on her body in her family's mobile home, deputies said.

Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly said deputies who searched the home found signs of abuse.

"There was an imprint of the baby's face in the carpet at the residence," Kelly said.

The child died on Wednesday afternoon at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus

Kelly said he will ask the Athens County Grand Jury to indict Young on aggravated murder charges.
