Central Ohio doctors are testing a fast new way to get rid of a persistent and painful female problem that affect thousands, 10TV's Andrea Cambern reported on Friday.
The treatment for fibroids can be done in an outpatient setting, instead of a hospital.
For the past year and a half, Ferma Ndoye was a victim of her body. She began having heavy and unpredictable menstrual periods, so bad, that she was afraid to leave the house.
Then she heard about a non-surgical clinical trial that might help.

Dr. Michael Subit at Complete Healthcare for Women diagnosed her with uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous tumors.
"They cause problems because if they grow to be large enough, they can cause abnormal bleeding, heavier periods, problems with pain or pressure sensation," Subit said.
As part of a national study, he is testing a fast and painless way to remove fibroids in an outpatient setting. Instead of cutting into the uterus to remove them, he gives patients a local anesthetic, and then uses a new tool to quickly nip away at the fibroids themselves.
In just minutes, the growths are gone.
Columbus is one of 10 sites around the country that is testing this procedure.
