Chris Spielman said this week that he will be surprised if embattled Ohio State coach Jim Tressel will still be coaching the Buckeyes this fall, 10TV's Dom Tiberi reported on Wednesday.
Spielman, a former All-America linebacker at Ohio State who played several successful seasons in the NFL, made the comments during a fundraiser in Lima on Monday.
"I'd be surprised if he's coaching next year," Spielman said. "Why I say that is I think there is more stuff coming out."
Tressel is being investigated by the NCAA over allegations that he used ineligible players last season and withheld information about rules violations.
Spielman told Tiberi on Wednesday night that a decision about Tressel's future must be the best thing for the university, whether it involves him staying or leaving.
