Community Mourns Summer Inman

UPDATED: Wednesday April 6, 2011 8:18 AM

Family and friends gathered to remember a mother of three who was kidnapped and slain, allegedly by her estranged husband and in-laws.

Summer Inman was remembered at the church where she grew up, the First Church Praise and Worship Center in Logan, 10TV's Chuck Strickler reported.

Inman, 25, was found last week in a septic tank on the grounds of a Nelsonville church after she was abducted from behind a Logan bank where she was working.

John Chappelear, who spoke at Inman's funeral, said he knew her since she was a child. He called her smile "medicine."

"I found her to be always pleasant and again the smile, no matter what she was going through, she always could flash that smile, and if you were going through a hard time, her smile was medicine to you. It refreshed you and helped you to see things just a bit clearer," Chappelear said. "This certainly has rocked this community, it's rocked this church, rocked us all to our core, but I told someone yesterday, at the core, is who we are,  and we are people that believe and trust God, no matter what."

Inman's estranged husband, William A. Inman II, 26, remains in jail, along with his mother and father. All three have been charged with Inman's kidnapping and are suspected in her slaying.

No one has been charged with in Inman's death.

A judge has granted temporary custody of Inman's three children, all under the age of 5, to her parents.
