Squatters Take Over Northeast Side Condo

UPDATED: Monday February 21, 2011 9:09 AM

A woman who left her northeast side condo before the bank could foreclose said uninvited guests moved in and made it their home.

Police forced their way into the condo on Cambron Drive and found quite a mess, 10TV's Ashleigh Barry reported on Thursday.

"This is like a warehouse of stuff they put in here," said condo owner Yvonne Spruel. "It was empty, yes, and it was clean"

Spruel said it took the squatters three days to move in and they went as far as to bring their own washer and dryer.

"It's just crazy how they could do a whole house takeover basically," she said.

Police arrested two of the alleged squatters and said they have done this before. Investigators posted a warning sign on the front door, clearly marking the condo as private property, Barry reported.

Because the condo has not been foreclosed on yet, Spruel is responsible for the cleanup.
