Penn National Gaming announced on Thursday that it will seek approval to move Beulah Park to Dayton, pending the state's approval of video lottery terminals at Ohio racetracks.
The Ohio State Racing Commission would need to approve moving the racetrack, 10TV's Danielle Elias reported.
According to a news release issued Thursday by Penn National, the decision to move the track was made after it analyzed the upcoming development of a casino in Columbus, the possible addition of VLTs at racetracks and struggles facing the racetrack business.
In addition to Beulah Park, Penn National wants to move another racetrack in Toledo to the Youngstown area.
Penn National said it was committed to offering current employees "priority opportunities" for jobs at the new Columbus and Toledo casinos, the news release said.
Those casinos are expected to open in 2012.
