The girlfriend of the "man with the golden voice" will also get help to battle drug and alcohol addiction.

The girlfriend of Ted Williams, the former homeless man who gained national attention for his radio voice, accepted an offer of help on Friday's episode of the Dr. Phil show, 10TV News reported.

Dr. Phil McGraw made it clear to Williams' longtime girlfriend, who asked only to be identified as Kathy, that if she wants to continue to be in Williams' life, she needed to go to rehab.

"Kathy, if you are going to be in Ted's life, and if he's going to be clean and sober, you are going to be clean and sober," McGraw said.

At first she resisted the idea of going to rehab, citing a pending court case and a fear of being away from Williams longer than necessary.

Her pending case stems from a drug arrest in Madison County, Ohio.

Kathy was accused of drug abuse after being pulled over in May. Williams is also wanted at the Feb. 11 hearing, which will determine whether deputies' search of the car was legal.

Williams' family has raised concerns over whether Kathy is a good influence on him.

While Kathy said she supports Williams' efforts to become sober, she said she would rather be back in a life of drugs and alcohol than lose him.

"Certainly I hope that it wouldn't go back to that but I was saying the desperate feeling that I felt that whatever it's going to take to be together," Kathy said.

Williams appeared on Thursday's Dr. Phil show via telephone from a South Padre Island, Texas, facility and discussed his latest issues.

Williams admitted that before he entered rehab that he made a brief visit back to Columbus where he got drunk.

On Friday's show, Williams encouraged his girlfriend to take the opportunity.

"I just want to say 'Kathy, go for it girl, we can come out of this sober,'" Williams said. "And I can go for some of the offers that have been laid upon me, just know Kathy that I am there for you too even though I'm here."

Williams made national headlines after a video appeared on the Columbus Dispatch Web site about him.  The clip that was filmed by Columbus Dispatch videographer Doral Chenoweth III, showed Williams standing near the ramp from Hudson Street and Interstate 71, demonstrating his voice.  A sign he held read, "I'm an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times."
