Out-Of-State Sex Offender Accused In Rape Of Girl, 12

A convicted sex offender from Pennsylvania with a history of trying to entice children over the computer faces charges after police said he raped a 12-year-old girl in a Columbus park, 10TV's Kevin Landers reported on Tuesday.

Bradford Davic faces five counts of rape, gross sexual imposition and importuning stemming from his arrest two weeks ago.

According to detectives, Davic, of Pittsburgh, made contact with the girl in an Internet chat room and the two agreed to meet at Mock Park on the city's northeast side.

Someone at the park noticed the pair and called police after growing suspicious.

"They observed an adult male and a young female in a van," said Columbus police Det. James Shockey.  "He believed (they were) doing things that they were not supposed to do."

A search warrant said officers found the "girl naked from the waist down" inside the vehicle, Landers reported.

"He was arrested on one count of rape that night," Shockey said.

Shockey said that Davic is a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania.  He previously served 30 months in federal prison for possession of child pornography and for using his computer in an attempt to entice a minor, Landers reported.

Investigators said it was possible that Davic could face additional charges.

"I believe there could be other victims," Shockey said.  "That's why it's still an open investigation, to see if there are other victims."
