A coroner released new information on Saturday into the deaths of two women and a boy, whose remains were discovered earlier this week in a hollow tree in rural Knox County.
A preliminary report from Knox County Coroner Jennifer Ogle said that Tina Herrmann, 32; her son, Kody Maynard, 11; and family friend Stephanie Sprang, 41, each died on Nov. 10 of multiple stab wounds to the chest and back. Each victim was dismembered after being killed, the report said.
There were no signs of sexual assault.
Ogle said that authorities were still working to determine the exact location of each person's death. A final report was expected to be completed in 6-8 weeks.

The remains of Herrmann, Maynard and Sprang were found Thursday afternoon in a wooded area of the Kokosing Wildlife Preserve. Authorities said that the remains had been put inside trash bags and placed inside a hollow tree.
Knox County Sheriff David Barber said that investigators found the site, located near Fredericktown, based on information they received from Matthew Hoffman.
Hoffman, 30, has not been charged with murder, but was being held on $1 million bond, accused of kidnapping Herrmann's daughter, Sarah Maynard. The 13-year-old was found alive last Sunday, bound and gagged, inside Hoffman's Mount Vernon home.
After discovering the remains on Thursday, prosecutors said they were working on preparing additional charges in the case.
They did not say if Hoffman had confessed to the slayings.
