Marion Franklin High School athletic director Scott Williams filed a complaint with the Ohio High School Athletic Association this week about the way the referees handled last week's playoff game against Big Walnut.

Williams pointed to the disparity in penalties in last week's regional semifinal game.

Big Walnut committed six penalties, while Marion Franklin was penalized 21 times, 10TV's Dan Fronczak reported.

The school also accused the officials of inappropriate comments to the Red Devil players.

The OHSAA was reviewing the penalties called at the game and the alleged banter on the field.

"What I asked Scott (Williams) to do in the letter to us is to indicate specifically if they could (say), 'Who said what to whom,' and then obviously, what we would then do is follow up with the officials and ask them what they said," said Bruce Maurer, the OHSAA's officials development director.

The OHSAA added that the game will not be overturned, so Big Walnut will continue in the playoffs.
